WATCH: Alaska Broadband Task Force Releases State’s Broadband Plan

By Jeremy Thacker

Alaska is preparing for major expansion of the state’s broadband infrastructure.

But, with a small density of population spread out over a geography that is bigger than most countries, you can imagine the incredible and unique challenges the state faces.

Now, these challenges are taken into consideration in the Alaska Broadband Task Force’s report: Blueprint for Alaska’s Broadband Future!

The Alaska Broadband Task Force was formed by the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development Commissioner Susan Bell to study the state’s current broadband landscape and come up with a plan to expand Alaska’s broadband for the state’s 21st century needs.

After more than two years of hard work, the detailed report is complete! A Blueprint for Alaska’s Broadband Future delves into the state’s current opportunities and challenges and makes recommendations on broadband expansion plans that will ensure Alaska remains relevant in the global economy.

This video blog explains the important and tedious work the Task Force has faced and why broadband expansion is so critical to the future of Alaska.
